Since opening our doors in 2007, the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education has become a hub for professional learning. We believe that in order to improve the quality of early education, teachers and administrators must have access to the latest research and evidence-based practices. We partner with universities, nationally and locally renowned experts and community organizations to help early education practitioners elevate their skills and knowledge.

Our approach to professional learning is guided by these principles:

  • Linking research and practice
  • Offering multiple, connected professional learning sessions over time
  • Combining ongoing group training with individualized coaching and consultation
  • Intentionally building community
  • Engaging directors
  • Creating opportunities for participants to share their learning and growth
  • Continuous reflection and analysis in order to improve effectiveness
  • Build on participant strengths
  • Cultural responsiveness
