The Center, in partnership with The Children’s Trust, will host a “BLOCK Fest” on March 18, 2010. The event, sponsored by the Florida Parental Information and Resource Center, is an interactive exhibit that provides families with young children under the age of eight with a rich, hands-on math and science learning opportunity. The exhibit is intended to increase parental knowledge of early development in the areas of math and science education, while providing opportunities to increase social and literacy skills for young children.
On Thursday, March 18, 2010, children from eight months to eight years will have the opportunity to play, build, count, measure and more with hundreds of blocks of all sizes, shapes, and colors. The exhibit will be made available to Spanish speaking families from 4:30 – 5:30 pm and to English speaking families from 6:00-7:00 pm. Attendees will be provided with valuable materials such as a parent handbook entitled Playing and Learning with Blocks.
The exhibit will be located at the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education, 350 Southwest 32 Road. To RSVP to this event, call 305-631-7600 or email Susan Escudero at escuderos@unitedwaymiami.org.
