The Demonstration School seeks to serve Miami-Dade County’s diverse population while providing access to high-quality early care and education. It is the School’s philosophy that diversity enriches the lives of all students and, ultimately society as a whole. The School’s student body is representative of the community’s economic and social diversity. In total, approximately 50 percent of the students pay full tuition and approximately 50 percent are fully or partially subsidized by state, federal or private funding. Each funding source has defined eligibility requirements. For example, the School has a set number of Head Start slots and the eligibility requirements for those slots are established by Head Start. Currently, the School has a waiting list. Vacancies are filled in accordance with the eligibility requirements of the open slots.
Applications for the coming year will be received from October through March. Slots will be filled through a lottery process. Those who are chosen will receive a notification of their acceptance. Parents/guardians must submit all of the following documents for verification purposes along with the application form itself.
- A copy of the child’s birth certificate
- Depending on the funding source, income tax (1040 form) OR notarized letter from employer for the most recent year (when 1040 is not available.) Legally, married couples must both submit proof of income
- Copy of legal ID, Florida Driver License (for all parent/guardians)
- If a child has a diagnosed disability, the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Support Plan (IFSP) must be included
