City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado toured the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education on Monday, March 28, 2011.  He spoke with parents and teachers, and had a chance to take part in some of the learning activities that go on every day at the Center’s Demonstration School, Educare of Miami-Dade.

“I congratulate the Center’s (UW Center for Excellence in Early Education) early care professionals who strive so hard to provide such a high standard of quality early education to the children,” Mayor Regalado, said.  “The education imparted to these young minds now will prepare them to enter into the very competitive world of the future.”

The Center’s mission is to elevate the quality of early care and education in Miami-Dade County and beyond.  The three principles that guide this mission are educate, demonstrate and advocate.  To do so, the Center works with business and elected leaders from around the country to raise the standards of early childhood education, and support sustainable and lasting change.

The Center models proven best practices, and shares those practices with adult learners including parents, educators and child care providers.  At the Center’s Demonstration School, all practices are modeled by research and in depth observation of students without interrupting their learning process.
