Early Childhood Program Administrator’s Institute (ECPAI)

Courses for Continuing Education Units

ECPAI offers motivated administrators a three-semester management and business leadership training program, available in English and Spanish. Courses begin in the fall and continue through the beginning of summer of the following year. Courses, books and required materials are provided.

The three courses focus on:

  • Enhancing management and leadership skills
  • Fiscal administration of an early childhood program
  • Recruiting, selecting and orienting staff through continuous professional learning
  • Implementing shared decision making and participative management
  • Understanding, conducting and evaluating effectiveness of meetings

ECPAI provides supplemental instruction and mentoring to early childhood administrators in the area of finance, marketing and technology. Through these courses, participants learn how to apply sound fiscal principles in financial planning and create marketing strategies while integrating technology tools. ECPAI also offers on-going mentoring to ensure participants are applying their new skills.

Courses for Continuing Education Units

Eligibility

  • commit to complete all three courses;
  • authorize the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education to assess your center by using the Program Administration Scale (PAS) or Business Administration Scale (BAS) as a pre- and post-assessment tool;
  • work at a licensed early childhood center or family child care home;
  • have graduated high school or obtained the GED.

Courses for Credits

Eligibility

  • Commit to complete all three courses.
  • have completed EEC 2002: Operation of an Early Childhood Facility or equivalent from an accredited university;
  • authorize the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education to assess your center by using the Program Administration Scale (PAS) or Business Administration Scale (BAS) as a pre- and post-assessment tool;
  • have a Florida Staff Credential;
  • must be currently employed at a Quality Counts or Head Start site;
  • be a Florida resident;
  • have a minimum of a foundational Director’s credential.

Location

Classes are in multiple locations around the north, south and central areas of Miami-Dade County.

United Way of Miami-Dade, Inc. Early Childhood Program Administrator’s Institute (ECPAI) is funded by The Children’s Trust.  The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.
