Social Affairs magazine launches holiday issue featuring United Way and the Center
Social Affairs magazine hosted an issue launch party and toy drive at Neiman Marcus, Bal Harbour Shops. Guests previewed the magazine’s holiday issue and took care of their holiday shopping while enjoying drinks, hors d’oeuvres, Christmas carolers, and even a special appearance from Santa Clause.
The issue features a cover story on Laurie Jennings, WPLG/Channel 10 anchor and United Way of Miami-Dade board member. In the article, Laurie speaks in great detail about her involvement with United Way and the United Way Center for Excellence in Early Education. When talking about the Center, she explains that “it’s really all about giving kids the best start and creating the best practices in early childhood education. It really is such an important cause.” Laurie has participated in a number of Center-related activities over the past few years ranging from reading to and cooking with children to playing a lead role in the fundraising efforts of the Center.
Toys collected from the party’s toy drive were distributed among United Way funded community agencies serving children.
